One Earth Film Festival (OEFF) is the Midwest’s premier environmental film festival, creating opportunities for understanding climate change, sustainability and the power of human involvement. They showcase top-issue, thought-provoking environmental films and lead audiences in interactive post-film discussions focused on solutions. Kane County Recycling
New disposal option for worn US flags
|
|
In partnership with the
National Association of Counties, and the National Flag Foundation, Kane County
has installed a flag retirement box, at no cost to the county, at the Kane County Government Center at 719 S Batavia Ave, Geneva, IL 60134, in Building A on the ground floor in the Veterans office hallway. Flags should be folded respectfully before being placed in the box.

The United States Flag Code prescribes flag etiquette — everything from flying it near other flags to instructions on how to raise and lower it. “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning,” says the code.
The county will be working in partnership with the Batavia VFW who will assure the proper disposal of the worn flags through retiring them with proper ceremony.
