Webinar: Addressing Municipal
Service Challenges
Panel discussion to explore tools & strategies to ensure the coordinated and efficient delivery of local government services
In hundreds of municipalities and counties, anticipated drops in population—and associated aging of the citizenry—are raising tough questions for staff and elected officials.

  • How can departments or governmental units better coordinate their work to remain efficient?
  • Should there be consolidation? If so, how?

Join the Chaddick Institute to learn from three experts. Norman Walzer and Andy Blanke, Northern Illinois University, will discuss  their work  on the state’s Local Efficiency Assessment Plan (LEAP), a tool designed to help officials and residents evaluate their county’s governmental structures while taking into account likely population changes.

Date :   Tuesday, January 28, 2020. 12:30 – 1:20 pm

Kane County Recycling
New disposal option for worn US flags
In partnership with the National Association of Counties, and the National Flag Foundation, Kane County has installed a flag retirement box, at no cost to the county, at the Kane County Government Center at 719 S Batavia Ave, Geneva, IL 60134, in Building A on the ground floor in the Veterans office hallway. Flags should be folded respectfully before being placed in the box.
The United States Flag Code prescribes flag etiquette — everything from flying it near other flags to instructions on how to raise and lower it. “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning,” says the code.

The county will be working in partnership with the Batavia VFW who will assure the proper disposal of the worn flags through retiring them with proper ceremony.
Additional information is available in a recent article published in Kane County Connects.
